June - August 2025

Mini Soccer is an introduction to soccer and provides an environment where children can learn soccer skills, physical literacy, social development and cooperation and have fun. Mini Soccer is for new players and those who simply want to have fun and meet new friends.

Locations

Mini programs are offered at all the following locations:

Hantsport - Foundry Field

Wolfville - Rotary Field

Port Williams - Port Williams Elementary School

New Minas - Lockhart Ryan

 

U3 and U5

The Active Start program is an introduction to soccer for children to get their first touches on the ball and learn physical literacy, soccer skills, structured and unstructured play, social development and cooperation in a fun environment.

The program is designed for parents/guardians to stay and play with their child under the guidance of our staff and coaches.

  •  12 weeks - one session per week
  • Mixed genders
  • Size 3 balls
  • The program is designed with a parent-kid structure - parents stay and play with their child under the guidance of our staff and volunteer coaches.

U7

The Fundamentals program supports children to continue their soccer experience through physical literacy and introduces the 'foundation' of soccer interactions in structured and unstructured environments.

12 weeks of programming - two sessions per week

  • Mixed genders
  • Size 3 balls
  • Practice games 3 v 3

Coaching
Volunteer coaches, supported when needed by Valley United staff, will deliver the team
programs. All Valley United coaches are mandated to complete all requirements by our governing bodies (Soccer Nova Scotia and Canada Soccer) including their soccer-specific training and a Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector screen.

 

Skill Centres  (Registration Link Under Summer Programs on Website valleyunitedsc.ca)

May - August 2025


Skill Centres are skill development programs geared towards U9, U10 and U11 players that want to
focus more on soccer. They provide a challenging, enjoyable environment for players to develop
and nurture the skills required to succeed in soccer. Our program is aligned with Canada Soccer
and Soccer Nova Scotia’s Skill Centre principles.

Key elements:
• High contact time with the ball
• Training to resemble the game
• Fun training for everyone
• Accessible to everyone
• Feedback to parents and players

There are two practices per week and participation in the NSSL Festival League. Festivals will
occur on 10 weekends throughout the season beginning in
June.

Fees $385

Fees include:

  • $50 fund-raising fee (parents can collect back)
  • Uniforms
  • Team equipment
  • Festival and referee costs
  • Field costs
  • Governing body fees including insurance

There will be several volunteer coaches and Valley United staff who will assist in the delivery of
the program. All Valley United coaches are mandated to complete all requirements by our governing bodies
(Soccer Nova Scotia and Canada Soccer) including their soccer-specific training and a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector screen.

Community soccer is for players who want to play games in a relaxed, fun environment where they are able to play with their friends in their local community. These programs are ideal for players who are not interested in the performance pathway or unable to commit as much time.

Whether you are new to the sport and want to try it out or have experience playing but don't wish to play at a competitive level, this is the spot for you.

Locations

Community programs are offered at all the following locations:

New Minas - Lockhart Ryan

 

U9

  • Male and female teams
  • 12 weeks with two sessions per week. Once the league games start, one practice a week and one game.
  • Size 4 Balls
  • Games are 40 minutes
  • 5-a-side including a keeper. Players play all positions.
  • Travel for away games within the Valley

 

U11

  • Male and female teams
  • 12 weeks with two sessions per week. Once the league games start, one practice a week and one game.
  • Size 4 balls
  • Games are 50 minutes and 7-a-side
  • Travel for away games within the Valley

COMMUNITY YOUTH (B)

U13, U15, U18

Valley united offers programs for players from the club’s communities to represent Valley United in the Valley District league. There are male and female teams and the number of teams will depend on the number of registrations. If there is more than one team, efforts will be made to ensure the teams are balanced.

 

  • games and practices during weekdays with occasional weekend games
  • 12 weeks with two sessions per week. Once the league games start, one practice a week and one game.
  • End of season playoffs
  • Provincial Championships

 

U13

  • Games are 70 minutes and 9-a-side
  • Size 4 balls
  • Home field for practices and games is Tower Field, Wolfville

 

U15

  • Games are 80 minutes and 11-a-side
  • Size 5 balls
  • Home field for practice and games is Lockhart Ryan, New Minas

 

U18

  • Games are 90 minutes and 11-a-side
  • Size 5 balls
  • Home field for practices and games is Lockhart Ryan, New Minas

Youth Performance (Registration Link Under Summer Programs on Website valleyunitedsc.ca)


April - August 2025


Youth performance programs are geared towards players who are committed to soccer and
teams participate in the Nova Scotia Soccer League. Programs are offered at the U12, U13,
U15 and U18 levels.


Team selection and training starts in April with games beginning in May and continuing until late
August. Training generally happens twice a week with games on the weekends.


Players will generally receive a minimum of two team practices a week and 14-16 games during
the season.


U12AA
• Training 60-90 minutes
• Size 4 balls
• 9 v 9 in games
• Games 70 minutes
• Fair playing time

U13AA
• Training 60-90 minutes
• Size 5 balls
• 9 v 9 in games
• Games 70 minutes
• Fair playing time

U15AA and U18AA
• Training 90 minutes
• Size 5 balls
• 11 v 11 in games
• Games 80 minutes U15 and 90 minutes U18
• Fair playing time
